Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

HALAL UV GEL VARNISH

What is Halal UV Gel Varnish?

Tuesday in Love Halal UV Gel Varnish is certified by the Halal Certification Services of Canada (HCSC).
It is a type of nail polish that complies with Islamic law.

But what does that mean, exactly?

The term “halal” means “permissible” in Arabic. Simply put, the gel polish is free from any haram (forbidden) ingredients, adheres to specific ethical guidelines and allow Muslin women to perform wudhu (ablution), so they can enjoy beautiful, long-lasting nails without compromising their faith and religious practices.

Is Halal UV Gel Polish Water Permeable? Can I do the Water Permeability Test?

Unlike regular nail polish that is nitrocellulose-based, UV gel polish is made from acrylic monomers and oligomers that react to UV light. Therefore, the permeability cannot be tested with a simple “at home water permeability test” using a paper towel.

Why is it Breathable and not Water Permeable? Is there a difference?

The term “water permeable” is used when it is tested using drops of water. However, the new breathable formula is lab tested with water vapors and high-pressure gases. Therefore, legally we are required to use the term “breathable” instead of “water permeable”.

However, it is important to note that our certifying body HCSC still approves the new breathable formula for wudhu because enough water passes through.

How many layers is permissible for making wudhu?

Our Halal UV Gel Polish can be layered up to a total of four coats without compromising the effects of its permeability – this includes any combination of our Basecoat, UV Gel Polish and Topcoat. It also includes any color that has shimmer or glitter.

Most colors however only need one coat for full coverage. Also, there’s no rubbing or added pressure required to your nails when you’re performing wudhu.

How long does Halal UV Gel Polish last?

With proper application and curing, your halal manicure can last from 2 to 3 weeks 💅

However, it is important to take into consideration that everybody’s daily routine takes a different toll on their hands and nails. With proper application and care, you can have a salon quality manicure for weeks!

All the UV Gel Polish are 100% vegan and cruelty-free 🌱

HOW-TO: PROPER CURING

  1. Familiarize yourself with your UV lamp

Different UV lamps come with varying wattages and curing times. It’s crucial to understand your lamp’s specifications since curing durations can vary from 30 seconds to 3 minutes per layer, depending on the gel polish color and thickness.

  1. Apply thin coats

Consistently apply thin, even layers of gel polish.

Thick applications pose challenges in thorough curing, often resulting in under-curing, which can lead to lifting or peeling of the gel.

  1. Optimal nail placement

Center your nails within the lamp, avoiding contact with its sides or back.
Proper positioning ensures uniform curing and prevents smudging.

  1. Sequential curing

Cure each layer individually—base coat, color coats, and top coat.
Avoid hurrying the process; adhere to the recommended curing times.

  1. Utilize timers

Most UV lamps feature timers to indicate curing durations. Set the timer according to the recommended time for the gel polish in use. Guesswork should be avoided, as over-curing can also pose issues.

  1. Verify curing

Post-curing, the gel polish should be completely dry, firm, and glossy.

If it feels tacky or sticky, it hasn’t fully cured. In such instances, recure the nails for an additional 10-30 seconds, depending on the gel polish’s specifics.

COMMON ERRORS

  • Skipping Base and Topcoats

Base and topcoats are integral for adhesion and protection. Skipping these layers invites chipping and peeling. Apply a base coat to prepare nails and a topcoat for sealing and protection.

  • Under-Curing

To prevent under-curing, adhere strictly to the recommended curing times provided by the gel polish manufacturer. When uncertain, slightly extend the curing duration.

  • Over-Curing

Excessive curing can render the gel brittle and prone to cracking. It’s vital not to surpass the specified curing times. For lamps with higher wattage, reduce the curing duration slightly.

  • Incorrect Positioning

Misplaced nails can result in uneven curing. Ensure proper placement at the center of the lamp, allowing the UV light to reach all gel polish areas.

  • Thick Applications

Applying thick layers leads to uneven curing. Always opt for thin, uniform coats, curing each layer separately for optimal results.

  • Old or Weak Bulbs

Regularly check lamp bulbs, as weakened bulbs may not cure the gel polish effectively. Replace them as needed to ensure proper curing.

HOW-TO: REMOVING HALAL UV GEL POLISH

  1. Gather Supplies
  • Acetone-based nail polish remover or pure acetone
  • Cotton balls or pads
  • Aluminum foil
  • Nail buffer
  • Cuticle or moisturizing nail oil
  • Orange stick or cuticle pusher
  • Optional: Nourishing cuticle and moisturizing nail oil
  1. Nail Preparation

Start by washing your hands to eliminate oils or dirt.
Trim nails if necessary and use a nail buffer to gently remove the gel polish’s shiny topcoat, being careful not to damage natural nails.

  1. Acetone Soak

Cut aluminum foil into small pieces, large enough to wrap around fingertips.
Soak cotton balls or pads in acetone and place them on each nail, covering the gel polish completely.
Securely wrap foil around fingertips to hold the cotton in place.

  1. Waiting Period

Allow nails to soak in acetone for 10-15 minutes (a slight warming sensation is normal, but if discomfort arises, remove foil wraps immediately)
Use this time for relaxation.

  1. Gentle Removal

After soaking, gently press down on each foil-wrapped nail, twisting softly – gel polish should begin to lift and slide off.
For stubborn spots, use an orange stick or cuticle pusher with care to push off polish.
Avoid excessive scraping to prevent nail damage.

  1. Hydration

After removing all gel polish, thoroughly wash hands to eliminate acetone residue.
Apply a nourishing cuticle or moisturizing nail oil to hydrate nails and cuticles.
Massage the oil for a few minutes to promote healthy nail growth and prevent dryness.

  1. Nail Rest

Allow nails to breathe for a few days post-removal before applying new polish or enhancements.
This break aids nail recovery and strength maintenance.

Remember, patience and gentle handling are essential during gel polish removal. Rushing or applying excessive force can harm nails. With these steps, you can safely remove gel polish at home while preserving nail health and beauty.
